How do I stay safe when buying online?

Most online scams start the same way: a message or link that takes you away from a site you trust. These habits protect you on Eldorado and everywhere else you shop or game online.

  1. Don't click on links. Type the website address yourself or use a bookmark. If you do not know the website, avoid searching for it in general.

  2. Only mark an order as received once you actually have it. The seller has to deliver first, then you check in the game that you got exactly what you paid for. If anything is missing or wrong, don’t confirm the order. Raise a dispute right away instead.

  3. Never share card details with the sellers or via a redirection link. Only provide them at checkout when buying.

How fake links trick you

A phishing link leads to a copy of a real page, like a login or checkout, and sends whatever you type to a scammer. These are the most common tricks:

  • Swapped letters. e1dorardo.gg, eldorad0.gg, elldorado.gg. Read the address letter by letter.

  • Wrong ending. eldorado.com, eldorado-gg.shop. Eldorado’s only address is eldorado.gg.

  • Real name hidden. eldorado.gg./secure-login.xyz. The real site is the part just before the first /, which here is secure-login.xyz.

  • Lookalike characters. A letter from another alphabet that looks exactly like a normal “o” or “a.” Type the address yourself instead of clicking.

  • Link text that lies. The text says eldorado.gg, but the link goes somewhere else. Hover over it, or long-press on mobile, to see where it really goes.

  • Short links and QR codes. bit.ly/..., tinyurl.com/... or a QR code in a chat. You can’t see where they lead, so don’t open them.

  • Fake sign-in window. A “Sign in with Google, Discord or Steam” box drawn inside the page. A real sign-in window can be dragged outside the browser, but a fake one can’t.

  • Bait messages. “Payment failed, update it here,” “Claim your refund,” “Check the item video.” Go to the site yourself and check there.

Red flags in messages and offers

If you notice any of these, stop and don’t reply with personal details. One red flag is enough to contact support.

  • Moving the chat elsewhere. “Let’s talk on Discord, Telegram, or WhatsApp.” Stay in-chat, because off-site chats or deals aren’t protected.

  • Paying outside the site. A discount for paying “directly,” or a request for gift cards, crypto, or a bank transfer. Only pay through checkout. Off-site payments can’t be refunded.

  • Fake support or staff. Someone claims they’re from Eldorado, Roblox, Steam, your bank, etc., and contacts you first. Real support never asks for passwords, security codes, or full card details. Contact support yourself instead via the official channel.

  • Urgency and threats. “Your account will be closed,” “Only 5 minutes left,” “Another buyer is waiting.” Slow down. Scammers rely on pressure.

  • Too good to be true. Prices far below similar offers, or free items and giveaways that need you to log in, or messages like "Hey, the fee for me is very high; I will send you a better link; it is safe; you will stay on the site", do not press the link or continue with the deal.

  • Confirm before delivery. “Mark the order as received first, then I’ll send it.” Only confirm once you actually have what you paid for. If the seller has marked the order as Delivered and is asking for more time, raise a dispute, as the sellers aren't allowed to mark orders as delivered before the actual delivery transaction was made.

  • Files or downloads. A “trade bot,” mod, extension, or file you need to install to receive an item. Don’t install it. It can steal your logins.

  • Fake proof of payment. A screenshot saying you were refunded or overpaid, followed by a request to send money back. Check your real balance on the site, not the screenshot.

Protect all your accounts

If one website you use is hacked, scammers try the same email and password everywhere else. A few habits stop that.

  • Use a different password for every site. A password manager can create and remember them for you.

  • Turn on two-factor authentication wherever it’s offered, especially on your email. Your email can reset every other account you own.

  • Check if your details were leaked. Most phones, computers, and browsers have built-in security features that warn you when a saved password appears in a known data leak. Open your device’s or browser’s password settings and look for alerts such as compromised or leaked passwords. If one of your passwords is listed, change it on that site and anywhere else you reused it.

  • Install apps and extensions only from official stores, and keep your browser and phone up to date.
