Keyword Rules FAQ

We've received some questions about how keywords should be used when creating listings. To clarify our current approach and ensure a fair experience for all users, we've put together this FAQ to outline what’s expected and why.

Why does Eldorado have keyword rules?

Our goal is to help buyers quickly find the exact listings they’re looking for, and help sellers like you connect with those buyers more effectively.

Over time, we’ve seen some keyword practices—like adding symbols, misspellings, or unrelated tags—create cluttered, confusing search results. This doesn't actually improve visibility, and it creates friction for buyers.

To ensure best experience for everyone, we’re setting clear guidelines to keep things fair, easy to browse, and trustworthy for everyone.

What exactly counts as keyword abuse?

Keyword abuse includes formatting or language tricks meant to draw extra attention or appear in unrelated searches. These tactics are discouraged because they harm search quality.

Special characters and formatting tricks

Listings that use special symbols, underscores, or decorative characters to "stand out" visually.

Examples:

  • DELUXOS_X1

  • 3MILLION_PURE

  • [X1_]__Deluxo

  • WOW_gold!!!

These don’t help with ranking—they just make results harder to scan and reduce trust in the platform overall.

Emojis are allowed if used in moderation.

Misspelled or altered keywords

Replacing letters with numbers or intentionally spelling items incorrectly to capture extra search results.

Examples:

  • g0ld

  • acc0unt

  • run3scape

  • moddedL

  • defns

Buyers don’t search this way, and using distorted text makes listings look less credible.

Irrelevant or misleading keywords

Including game names or terms that don’t match the actual item, to appear in unrelated search results.

Example:

  • Selling a GTA listing but tagging “Valorant,” “CS2,” or “Fortnite”

This wastes buyer time and damages platform trust.

Repeating the same keywords unnaturally

Overloading titles or descriptions with the same keywords multiple times.

Example:

  • gold gold gold cheap wow gold best price gold

This makes listings harder to read and offers no benefit to visibility.

📌Keywords: you can use each keyword (or keyword variation) a maximum of two times—once in the title and once in the description, or any other variation that is convenient.

What does a good listing look like?

  • Clear, properly spelled keywords that match your product.

  • No decoration, symbols, or formatting gimmicks.

  • A short, natural-sounding title.

  • A helpful description with only relevant terms.

Think of it this way: the best listings are written like a buyer would expect to read them—not like a search engine.

Will keyword tricks help me rank better?

Not at all. In fact, listings that misuse keywords are more likely to be removed or result in account restrictions. This kind of formatting creates cluttered offer pages, making it harder for buyers to navigate and find what they’re looking for.

What happens if I don't follow the rules?

To protect the buyer experience, listings with keyword abuse may be:

  • Removed from search results

  • Subject to account warnings or restrictions

  • Permanently banned in the case of repeated abuse

We’d much rather help you improve your listings than take action, so we encourage you to update them if needed.

I have questions. Who can I talk to?
